When is the Queen’s platinum jubilee?

Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is today, Sunday 6th February 2022, but celebrations have been pushed back to celebrate it with her Birthday in June, much like the Gold and Diamond Jubilees.

To mark the occasion of the Monarch of 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth, we have a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. This falls in half term for some schools.

The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, and includes:

The Queen’s Birthday Parade of over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will come together in the traditional Trooping of the Colour Parade to mark The Queen’s official birthday, usually held on the second Saturday in June.

Platinum Jubilee Beacons

The lighting of beacons will mark the Platinum Jubilee. The Principal beacon will be lit in a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace, and then over 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, UK Overseas Territories and the capital cities of the Commonwealth countries.

Friday 3rd June

Service of Thanksgiving

A Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen’s reign will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Saturday 4th June

The Derby at Epsom Downs

Her Majesty The Queen and Members of the Royal Family will attend the Epsom Derby.
